Tattoo Removal

As tattoos increase in popularity, more people have body art they regret. The reasons vary: poor artist, fading or blurring of the ink, rash decision, youthful indiscretion, failed relationship, or maybe you’ve just changed. Whatever the reason, not all tattoo mistakes must be permanent

Laser technology can help you fade or often completely remove tattoos. Unlike applying the ink, removing it is a long process, but one we will walk you through. Success rates depend on many factors.

How it Works

Tattoos are meant to be permanent. The injected ink is seen as a foreign by your body and your body is constantly trying to remove the ink. The ink particles, however, are too large for your immune cells to remove. Picture your immune cells as multiple little Pac-Mans. The Pac-Man tries to gobble up the ink, but the ink is too large for it to chomp. Therefore, the ink remains in the deep layers of your skin. We use the laser to help your body to clear the tattoo in the following steps:

  1. The laser breaks down the ink particles into smaller pieces.

  2. The “Pac-man” (immune cells, like macrophages) are able to devour the tiny particles.

  3. The Pac-Man carries the particles through your bloodstream to the liver and kidney so your body can eliminate them through waste.

  4. We wait roughly 12 weeks for the process, then zap the tattoo with the laser again.

How quickly this process works depends on many things, including your liver and kidney health, level of hydration, frequency of exercise. In addition, the type of ink, amount of ink and color of ink on your tattoo will influence the timeline for treatment.

The Picosecond laser is far superior to Nanosecond (Q switch) laser for tattoo removal. This means fewer treatments and better results.
